Coverweb webMelbourne Pacific Climate Warrior Benefit
This year, a team of “Pacific Climate Warriors” carrying traditional style canoes will travel from islands all over the Pacific to Sydney. While in Australia, the Warriors will draw attention to the links between Australian fossil fuel exports and climate change, calling on our leaders to stand up for the Pacific by taking bold action on climate.

The Pacific Climate Warrior Benefit will raise funds for this important project.

The benefit will feature performers hailing from places all over the Pacific, including dance, movement and voice performance group ANIVA, Samoan slap dance troupe, Tama Tatau, all woman Samoan dance troupe, Penina O Vitoria, Polynesian dance group Nuholani and Island Breeze’s Fijian Meke group. Oakleigh locals, Tracey’s Trailer Trash Choir, will also grace the stage with some Hawaiian tunes!

In between performances, you will learn all about the fight to stop climate change in the Pacific through short videos and storytelling.

Food and drink will be available on the night from a Kaindia Fijian Restaurant food stall. There will also be a raffle with some amazing prizes like Hula classes, CDs and gift vouchers to dine at Kaindia Fijian Restaurant.

Last but certainly not least, traditional Miri Miri massage will be available on the night, with all proceeds going towards the Pacific Climate Warriors journey.

When: 7-10PM, Friday 22nd August

Where: Clayton Town Hall, 264 Clayton Rd, Clayton
