The 13km deathly quiet drive through the Conjola National Park from the Princes Highway was like driving through a climate change Armageddon.<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/350.org.au\/files\/2020\/02\/news-size-website-3-768x397-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5947\" src=\"https:\/\/350.org.au\/files\/2020\/02\/news-size-website-3-768x397-1-580x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/world.350.org\/australia\/files\/2020\/02\/news-size-website-3-768x397-1-580x300.png 580w, https:\/\/world.350.org\/australia\/files\/2020\/02\/news-size-website-3-768x397-1-430x222.png 430w, https:\/\/world.350.org\/australia\/files\/2020\/02\/news-size-website-3-768x397-1-20x10.png 20w, https:\/\/world.350.org\/australia\/files\/2020\/02\/news-size-website-3-768x397-1.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a>\n<p>Virtually everything is gone. The charred landscape is spiked with burnt matchstick trees and the once lush green undergrowth is nothing more than ash. It\u2019s unnerving to be able to see right through the Australian bush. It doesn\u2019t make sense. All along the way were the blackened bodies of ancient and once towering gums, cut down after the fire to prevent them crashing across the road.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone we met had stories to tell. Friends who had died, been badly burnt or lost homes. A season\u2019s lost income and the staff they had to let go. But everyone was glad we were visiting the area, spending money to soften the financial blow and showing our faces so they knew they hadn\u2019t been forgotten.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Climate advocacy groups also need our support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of Australia\u2019s worst bushfire season on record, donations have rightfully poured in from all around the world to help communities get back on their feet and rescue what\u2019s left of our devastated wildlife.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But despite the climate change horrors, public sympathy has not yet extended to our dedicated climate advocacy groups.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For decades, these groups have been doing the heavy lifting on action against climate change.
