In 2018, we are going to accelerate our response to climate change. We all know we have to.<\/p>\n

As a part of 350 Australia\u2019s push to make sure that climate change will be front and centre of every election going forward, our founder,\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u00a0McKibben<\/span><\/strong>, is coming back to Australia as part of a global effort to accelerate climate change action.<\/p>\n

Bill<\/span>\u00a0McKibben<\/span>\u00a0tour<\/h3>\n

For those of you who don\u2019t know,\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u00a0McKibben<\/span>\u00a0is a global climate activist leader and inspiring speaker.<\/p>\n

Bill<\/span>\u2019s 1989 groundbreaking book,\u00a0The End of Nature<\/em>, is regarded as the first book for a general audience about climate change, and has been published in 24 languages. Since then he has written over a dozen more books, and founded\u00a0350.org<\/a>, the first global grassroots climate change movement. In 2012,\u00a0Bills<\/span>\u00a0article\u00a0\u201cDo the Math\u201d<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/em>\u00a0magazine became one of the most read articles in the magazine\u2019s history and changed the way the world thought about investment in fossil fuels.<\/p>\n

In 2014\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u00a0was awarded the Right Livelihood Prize, sometimes called the \u2018alternative Nobel.\u2019<\/p>\n

It is an honour to have\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u00a0visit us again.<\/p>\n

‘Accelerate’<\/h3>\n

Bill<\/span>\u2019s tour will focus on the extraordinary impact of 350\u2019s fossil fuel divestment campaign globally, and the groundbreaking NYC legal case against five of the world\u2019s biggest oil companies.\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u00a0sat next to the Mayor of New York,\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u00a0de Blasio \u00a0as\u00a0the announcement<\/a>\u00a0was made.<\/p>\n

Just like New York, Australians should not have to pay for the consequences of climate change when the fossil fuel companies most responsible have known for decades what was going to happen and have done everything they could to stop policy action.<\/p>\n

It is this global momentum, this \u201cacceleration\u201d, that\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u00a0will be bringing to Australia. The tour will seek to ramp up public pressure for climate action in Australia.<\/p>\n

Over coming weeks we will be giving you more information about\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u2019s tour.<\/p>\n

We want our supporters to engage with\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u00a0as much as possible as he races around the country, and will be hosting multiple public events and opportunities for passionate 350 people to meet\u00a0Bill<\/span>. For those who cannot attend in person, we will be live streaming at least one of his inspiring events.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0Bill<\/span>\u2019s tour, we will be ramping up towards the next federal election. We\u2019re already moving towards a future without fossil fuels – but it\u2019s time to accelerate our response.<\/p>\n
