Ann Arbor state representative Yousef Rabhi is opposed to the continued operation of Enbridge’s Line 5, a 64-year-old oil pipeline with safety issues that, should it spill, would have devastating consequences across the straits of Mackinac. He recently sponsored a resolution with a goal to pressure Attorney General Bill Schuette and Governor Rick Snyder to shut down Line 5. Please call your state representatives and tell them to support this bill!

Here’s a suggestion of what to say:

“Hello, my name is <name> and I’m a constituent living at <address>. I support Representative Yousef Rabhi’s resolution on the Line 5 Pipeline. The Governor and the Attorney General should use their legal powers to end the 1953 easement. This pipeline is not safe: it is very old, and parts of it are thinning and corroding. A spill would have terrible consequences for Michigan’s great lakes– its most valuable natural resource. Please support House Resolution 51. Thank you.”
