2016 will find 350 Pensacola actively engaged in climate change mitigation and adaptation activities, education, and membership outreach. Fellow bloggers with me – Larry Chamblin, Sandra Adams, and Christian Wagley – will keep you up to date on local activities and national activities and resources.
Who are we? We are a diverse group of local residents focused on climate change solutions, education, and action.
Things to watch for:
- First meeting of the newly formed City of Pensacola Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Task Force;
- Keeping the U.S. and Florida on track with the promises made at the Paris Summit;
- Activities and education that support Clean Energy in Florida;
- 350 Pensacola’s January education event (TBA soon);
- Blogs on the science of climate change and clean energy solutions for all residents.
As 2015 ends as the warmest year on record, Pensacolans are bathed in unseasonably warm and stormy weather conditions. Extreme weather events (a phrase that is becoming uncomfortably common in U.S. and world news) are increasing. Still, communities and some U.S. states are not connecting the dots. Join us to learn more and to determine how we can build resilience in Pensacola, Escambia County, and Florida.
WE NEED YOU! We are only as strong as our community. The more different ideas we explore and deeper our discussions go, the better we’ll all be to meet the challenge of our times. *We are especially interested in supporting the activities of faith communities and nonprofits concerned about climate change impacts on people and nature. Contact us to let us know what resources we may be able to provide to support your efforts.
Want to join 350 Pensacola or have a question? Send us an email: 350pensacola@gmail.com, or just come to one of our events. Watch for an update on the 2016 calendar of events.
