On March 2nd, 2013 warriors across 14 Pacific Island Nations performed their traditional warrior dances, to send the message “We are not drowning. We are Fighting”. The action was a huge success, and was documented on blog sites, social media, and by news sites the world around. For example, the story was documented by wonderful organisations like UNICEF (click for the story), and even as far away as India (click for the story).
ABC Australia also picked up on the story – and even conducted an interview with 350 Tokelau’s country coordinator Mikaele Maiava. Have a listen to the interview at this link, just click the link titled ‘audio’ underneath the picture: Mikaele’s ABC Australia interview on the day of action. To top it all off, the day of action even got some tv time!
In addition to the great exposure of the Pacific Islanders cause – lots of wonderful photos rolled in. Here are just a few of the amazing photos and if you’re on Facebook, there’s even more on the 350 Pacific page.
