The People’s Climate March was absolutely incredible! 400,000 people took to the streets in NYC in what was the largest political mobilization on anything–anything!–in the United States in the past decade.

Timed to coincide with the beginning of the UN climate talks that began this week, the march succeeded in bringing a powerful call for action on climate from world leaders. President Obama mentioned the march in his remarks saying that the  hundreds of thousands of people marching for climate action could not be ignored.

What a beautiful day it was. New York really knows how to turn out! Hundreds of demonstrations were held worldwide. The day after the march, 1000s of people took to Wall Street calling for an end to profiting from the climate crisis. On Tuesday, several high net worth individuals and foundations announced pledges to divest $50 billion from fossil fuels.

The movement is growing. Onwards!

Lighting the Way

Donate to 350NYC's LED campaign and cut carbon now!

Our latest Sustainability Project seeks to provide LED lightbulbs for an entire building of low income seniors in NYC. There's no easier path to immediate carbon reduction while also helping our neighbors reduce their electric bills.
