A GLOBAL CLIMATE TREATY: WHY THE U.S. MUST LEAD
Saturday, September 20, 7:00 p.m.

Center for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street, first floor auditorium

In September, world leaders will meet in NYC for a UN summit on climate change. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is calling on world governments to commit to an ambitious, legally binding agreement in 2015 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our program will focus on why we need an international treaty and why it is critical for us to mobilize support to demand that the U.S. assume a leading role in the treaty negotiations.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Mary Robinson,  President of the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice (http://www.mrfcj.org/about/).  She served as the first woman President of Ireland from 1990 to 1997 and as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 1997 to 2002.
  • Sean Sweeney, Trade Unions for Energy Democracy
  • Donald Brown, Scholar in Residence and Professor, Sustainability, Ethics, and Law, Widener University of Law.

Lighting the Way

Donate to 350NYC's LED campaign and cut carbon now!

Our latest Sustainability Project seeks to provide LED lightbulbs for an entire building of low income seniors in NYC. There's no easier path to immediate carbon reduction while also helping our neighbors reduce their electric bills.
