On January 27th we attended a gathering at the Ramapough Lenape Community Center in Mahwah to support Harold Molt. He was unfairly arrested by the Mahwah government – at the prompting of the “Polo Club.” He spent 40 days in jail and his court proceedings were repeatedly postponed. This is part of a pattern of harassment against the Ramapough – an effort, we believe, to force them off the 14 acres of land that they own on the shores of the Ramapo River up Halifax Road – they use that area as a sacred prayer camp, to which they have often invited the public.
To find out more, go to the tribe’s Facebook page: Split Rock Sweet Water Prayer Camp. There, you can also contribute to a FundLY campaign to help pay for Harold’s court costs. You can also learn about future court dates.
