My wife and I came to Maine in 1974 and consider it HOME. We don’t want our HOME raped, pillaged, toxified, and laid to waste. Mountaintop mining nor Open Pit mining have no place in the USA, let alone Maine. We love our state and will fight to keep her from being ruined!

Since electing in 2005 to retire in Maine (from Texas), I’ve noticed that while Maine boasts of “life as it should be” it often strives to emulate states on the fast track to environmental self-destruction. We Mainers should take our famous boast seriously and do everything in our power to preserve our state as the unique gem it is.

Mountain top mining is against humanity itself. It destroys the environment and the soul at the same time. It takes away the beauty which is our given rights. It is about greed and personal gain at the expense of all of us who dwell on our planet now and in the future. It is fundamentally unethical and evil.

Maine is a very special place, loved by millions for her beauty. Corporate greed will do its best to extract every last ounce of water, every gram of minerals, every tree that can be cleared for profit, etc., etc.

Those of us who love Maine must see that such behavior is not allowed in our state.
