“This was the biggest climate change rally in US history,” said 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben. “By our count, 50,000 people gathered by the Washington Monument and then marched past the White House, demanding that President Obama block the Keystone XL pipeline and move forward toward climate action.”
“You are the movement, and the movement is our best chance at making a difference on climate change.”
Many Mainers were part of the largest climate rally in history down in Washington, DC on Sunday.
Those not able to attend were there in spirit and others in southern Maine joined a solidarity rally held in Monument Square in Portland.
