Tar Sands Forum in South Portland
Wednesday – 10/10/12 – (7:00 – 9:00 PM)
Southern Maine Community College (SMCC)

Tar Sands Oil is an incredibly destructive fossil fuel – from production, transportation and use. All of us are at risk – particularly given the “carbon bomb” nature of releasing huge amounts of carbon into our already challenged atmosphere. With evidence that dirty Tar Sands Oil will be pumped from Montreal to South Portland, all of New England is in the crosshairs akin to risks seen elsewhere – including the massive spill in Kalamazoo, MI 2 years ago. Join 350 Maine – in collaboration with NRDC, Environment Maine, Sierra Club-Maine and NRCM – to learn more about the risks associated with pumping toxic tar sands oil through an aging 60-year old pipeline that runs from South Portland, through the Lakes Region and Western Maine. In particular, be sure to invite your friends and family who live in South Portland. Please RSVP for the event via “Like” on the 350Maine Facebook page and/or by contacting 350 Maine by email: 350maine@gmail.com.

Location of the Event: Jewett Hall at Southern Maine Community College
