国際環境NGO350.orgメイ・ブーヴィ事務局長来日に伴うイベントおよび個別インタビューのご案内

気候変動防止に取り組む国際環境NGO350.orgの事務局長メイ・ブーヴィ氏が1月27日に来日します。日本の環境NGO、政府やメディアとのイベントを通じて、350.orgが世界的に進めている化石燃料投資撤退（ダイベストメント）運動、そしてトランプ政権発足後の米国の気候変動・エネルギー政策について報告、意見交換を行う予定です。

2月1日（水）に 350.org Japan が主催する特別フォーラムでは、地球温暖化防止に配慮したエシカルな金融行動を日本でも促すために、「エシカル消費」とダイベストメントも含む「エシカルな金融」のつながりをテーマにした基調講演を行います。同イベントには、エシカル消費の分野で活躍されている、オーガニックコットン・ブランド アバンティの渡邊智恵子代表や、エシカル協会代表の末吉里花さん、鎌倉投信の取締役・資産運用部長の新井和宏さんなどにパネリストとしてご登壇いただきます。

350.org 事務局長メイ・ブーヴィ略歴：米国バーモント州のミドルベリー大学卒業。同大学在学中の2008年に、「世界最高の環境ジャーナリスト」（米タイム誌）であり環境活動家でもあるビル・マッキベン・同大学教授とともに350.orgを立ち上げる。卒業後、事務局長に就任。気候変動に取り組む次世代リーダーとして米タイム誌などにも紹介されている。現在、350.org は188カ国に広がるネットワークを駆使し、主に、気候変動防止のために化石燃料企業からの投資撤退（ダイベストメント）を促進するキャンペーンを世界各国で進めている。https://350.org / https://350.org/ja

350.org Executive Director May Boeve Upcoming Visit to Japan

350.org Executive Director May Boeve will visit Tokyo, Japan on January 27 to February 3 to participate in a series of events with a range of stakeholders, including  officials from the Japanese government and leaders from Japanese civil society and the media. During her visit she will be discussing a range of subjects. Her primary areas of focus will be (1) the fossil fuel divestment campaign that 350.org is spearheading internationally and (2) the effects the Trump administration will bring to U.S. energy and climate change policy.

On February 1, Ms. Boeve will give remarks in a special forum hosted by 350.org Japan, “Spreading Ethical Finance: Consumer action that can save the world.” Her presentation will focus on the relationship between “ethical finance” and “fossil fuel divestment,” and how these activities hold the potential to slow the dramatic, dangerous pace of climate change. Important figures who are leading the ethical consumption movement in Japan, including Rika Sueyoshi from the Ethical Association of Japan, will be joining this panel discussion.

May Boeve Bio:

May Boeve is the co-founder and Executive Director of 350.org, an international climate change campaign group. 350.org’s creative communications, organizing, and mass mobilizations strive to generate the sense of urgency required to tackle the climate crisis. May was featured in Time magazine’s Next Generation Leaders issue in 2015 as part of a new generation of environmental advocates building alliances across sectoral divides. She is the co-author of Fight Global Warming Now.
