Wednesday, July 18 from 1 to 4 pm
Wayne Lyman Morse United States Courthouse, 405 E. 8th Ave., Eugene
WHO: Attorneys representing youth plaintiffs, as well as many youth plaintiffs themselves, and attorneys representing the Trump administration in Juliana v. US will stand before Judge Aiken for the first time since September 2016.
WHAT: An important hearing in the Juliana v U.S. case! The Trump administration continues its desperate dash to dodge this lawsuit. Its latest attempt comes in the form of a “Motion for Judgment on the Pleadings.” In this motion, the federal defendants argue for the first time that the President is above the Constitution. They also contend again, contrary to hundreds of years of precedent, that Plaintiffs can’t bring a claim under the 5th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Help us show the Defendants that the people are behind our youth plaintiffs in their stand for climate rights.
WHERE & WHEN:
1:00 p.m. ~ We’ll begin gathering outside Wayne Morse Federal Courthouse in Eugene, to welcome the youth plaintiffs as they enter, and allowing time to go through security.
2:00 p.m. ~ Oral arguments begin.
