Greetings Master Recyclers!

It’s happening…it’s really happening J Lane County Waste Management and partners are hosting a free, plastic recycling collection for plastic containers that have recently been dropped from residential recycling.

We will be collecting #2, #4 and #5 (Polyethylene and Polypropylene) tubs, jugs, bottles, lids and beverage handles. Go to: for examples of beverage handles. All materials must be clean, clearly stamped with a plastic resin code (number inside chasing arrow) #2, #4 or #5 and sorted by number and shape. Plastics will be delivered directly to Denton Plastics, a local recycling plant that does not have a wash line. Unsorted, dirty, greasy, unmarked or incorrect materials will NOT be accepted.

Master Recyclers we need your help!

  • Collect! Materials from friends and neighbors for the event. This is a great education opportunity. Inspect containers you receive and reject containers that are not a clean, #2, #4 or #5 tub, jug, bottle, lid or handle. Let’s continue to teach the “Recycle It Right” message.
  • Volunteer! Greet cars, screen materials to accept or reject, place accepted materials in super sacks sorted by resin number and shape (bottle vs tub). Sign up here:
  • Promote! Share the flyer, Facebook event and spread the word with friends and neighbors.

Some examples of accepted items:

#2 and #5 Nancy’s yogurt tubs and #4 Nancy’s yogurt lids

#5 Umpqua Dairy cottage cheese tub (not the lid because it is not marked)

Some examples of EXCLUDED items:

Arizona tea jug marked both #5 AND #7

Coffee Mate bottle #1
